Traveling to Puerto Rico? * SilkMari *

Did you know that Puerto Rico is called
 "Enchanted Island"...
Short History

Located in the northeastern Caribbean, Puerto Rico was the Spanish Empire from the early years of exploration, conquest, and colonization of the new world. Puerto Rico began with the Settlement of the Archipelago of Puerto Rico by the Ortoiroid people between 3,000 and 2,000 BC. Also, other Tribes such as the Saladoid and Arawak Indians populated the Island between 430BC and 1000AD. At the time of Christopher Columbus's arrival to the new world in 1492, the dominant indigenous culture was that of the Taínos Indians. The Taíno people population decreased dangerously low during the latter half of the 16th century because of new infectious diseases carried by European explorers and by Spanish settlers and warfare.

The people of Puerto Rico are composed of 3 races, the Taino Indians, Spanish and African. We are a wonderful mix of skin colors, cultures, and traditions.

Here on my SilkMari Petroglyph Collection, you will see the Taíno Indian Petroglyphs (Drawings) on my Silk Scarves. I have the Sol of Jayuya, the Lady Caguana, and the Taíno Coqui Frog.

In a hurry ...

Early day of departure for these tourist that are a bit late to board their cruise liners.

They were all walking at the same ... hurried stride ... with the gate in mind.  It was such a beautiful day in the low 80s no humidity clear blue skies  ... I know they did not want to leave.

New Batik Scarves

Some of my new Batik silk scarves making their debut at the Artisan Plaza in Old San Juan.  Love the crispy whites.  Woring with wax must be a quick process with flow and but delicate moves.

Ready to go ...

Here is the ... Big Baby ... up-close from my car as I was leaving the the Artisan Plaza.

Fabulous Wednesday Afternoon in Old San juan

Gorgeous afternoon in Old San Juan ... super sunny, breezy and dry.  Notice the Cruise Liner way back past the trees ready to go.

Sunday at the Artisan Plaza

Sunday afternoon at the Artisan Plaza in Old San Juan.  Super breezy and bright .   People walking ... people eating ... people shopping ... people all over the place.

Too close for Confort ...

Cruise liner is very very close ... yet it still makes the Tourist nervous as they leave in in only one half hour ... how they wish they had more time.   See the two flags of the Cruise Liner way in the background.

More than ... Happily Married

Happily married couple visiting Puerto Rico with the lovely Mrs wearing one of my newly purchased silk scarves.

Sun and Rain ... Together

Rain and sun at the same time ... Witches must be getting married ... as we say here in Puerto Rico.  It is quite beautiful and sultry.

Off to the next Port ...

There it goes fulll and ready for the next Port on a very beautiful afternoon in Old San Juan Harbor.

Happy Sailing ...

Plaza full of tourist who have to leave much sooner than they wish ... Happy sailing ... until we meet again!

Happy Sailing!

Tourist in a hurry ... want more time for shopping but Cruise Liner waiting to depart ... Happy sailing.

Two Very Very Happy Customers

Two very happy tourist wearing two of my newly purchased hand dyed silk scarves ... Happy traveling ...

Well-behaved ... I think?

Closer View of the Artisan Plaza ...
